PdM (CBM) & Condition Monitoring - Submenu

Condition Based Maintenance (CBM)

Condition Based Maintenance (CBM)

Condition Based Maintenance includes Base Data Generation (once at beginning), Condition Monitoring Services and Preventive Measurements (Condition Based) & necessary Corrective Actions.

CBM includes accessing the deterioration in the condition of Machine/Equipment and restoration to its previous condition.

The CBM process includes, Root Cause Analysis in order to find number of problems in Machine under CBM, those problems will be rectified and machine is restored to good condition. After this Base Data will be generated this will be reference point in CM attempts. During CM attempts trend analysis will be done and increasing trend will be reviewed closely. The frequency of CM attempts will be as per condition of the machine, under CBM.

We undertake CBM of following Machines/Equipment –

1. Bearings- It includes, Condition Monitoring of Bearings with IR Thermography and Ultrasound Analysis. When found slight deterioration in trend analysis, the bearing can be restored back to its previous condition by acoustic greasing.  Acoustic greasing: It is a unique method of greasing bearings guided with Ultrasound instrument. This method avoids over greasing and excessive greasing. The important part is as the greasing is based on acoustic ultrasound, the need of grease is identified (whether greasing is required or not). Hence, unnecessary greasing is avoided and quantity of grease is saved.

2. Electric Motors – It includes Condition Monitoring of Electric Motors with Ultrasound Analysis (bearings), Thermography (Winding & Bearings) and  Vibration Measurements (foundation, coupling, alignment, rotor balancing, looseness, bent shaft, etc.). Vibration Analysis will be done to generate the Base Data and then followed by CM attempts.Preventive Measurements- Laser Alignment, In-Situ Balancing, Acoustic Greasing, Overhauling
Corrective Actions- Rewinding of stator/rotor winding, Bearing housing repairs, shaft replacement, Stator/Rotor core replacement, Bearing replacement.

 3. Gear Boxes – Base Data generation by Vibration Analysis and Ultrasound Analysis. Condition Monitoring techniques – Vibration Analysis and Ultrasound Analysis.Preventive Measurements- Laser Alignment
Corrective Actions- Replacement of gears, repair of gears, replacement of bearings, repair of bearing housing,

4. Blowers – Base Data generation by Vibration Analysis and CM by Vibration Measurements.Preventive Measurements- In-situ Balancing of blower and Laser Alignment

5. Pump Sets – Base data generation by Vibration Analysis and CM by Ultrasound Analysis & Vibration Measurements.Problems like piping strain, will be eliminated after first survey. Major attention will be given to cavitation problem during CM attempts.
Preventive Measurements- Acoustic greasing of bearings
Corrective Actions- Replacement of bearings, replacement of impeller

6. Alternators- Same as motor, above.
